Warm and Creamy Oatmeal Ingredients

In these troubled and uncertain times, it’s more important than ever to take care of our health. All of us are taking the regular precautions like washing our hands more regularly, practicing social distance and avoiding crowded areas. Another important way to stay healthy is to maintain a strong immune system.

According to the Harvard Medical School, one of the best ways to boost your immune system, is eating a healthy diet of whole foods including fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly and getting enough quality sleep. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast is crucial and it will set the tone of your day!

Today I am sharing one of my favorite breakfast recipes, which can be enjoyed throughout the year thanks to the many options it offers! In the winter enjoy this warm and creamy bowl of oatmeal to start your morning right. And in the summer, you can prepare it the night before and let it sit overnight in the fridge. The next morning your overnight oats will give you a fresh and energizing start to the day!

Warm and Creamy Oatmeal

To me, this is the perfect way to start the day, along with a cup of my favorite coffee brew! One of the reasons I love oatmeal so much is because it’s so easy to accommodate with a variety of ingredients and allows us to create so many variations! The recipe above is my version and of course, can be easily modified to your own tastes. Swap the almond milk for another non-dairy milk or regular milk. Add more seeds or skip some depending on your preference. I love them all!  So to be more efficient in the morning I actually made my own blend. I combined chia, hemp and flax seeds in a glass jar and I simply add a couple of teaspoons to my oats. And of course… cacao nibs! Who doesn’t like a bit of chocolate for breakfast?

Finally, I top my bowl with some nuts and fresh fruit. I like bananas and apples in the winter;  berries, peaches and nectarines in the summer. For some extra protein and a smoother texture, feel free to add some Greek yogurt.

All these ingredients combined, pack a number of quality nutrients such as Omega 3 and Omega 6, iron, calcium, fiber and protein. These are heart-healthy ingredients that give you energy and have an anti-inflammatory effect. Best part? They are perfect for a gluten-free diet.

So jump start your day with the warm and creamy goodness of this oatmeal. Don’t forget to tag me on Facebook with your pictures of this nutrient-rich breakfast.
